The Cloud Gazers have developed some initial design proposals for the gallery with guidance from an architect with a national reputation for sustainable buildings.

Preliminary consultation has commenced with stakeholders including environmental groups, arts organisations, building practitioners, funding organisations and local councils. These initial discussions have been received with great enthusiasm and have helped establish the core objectives for the Cloud Gallery.

Opportunities have been identified:

• Synergies and links with Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre
• A future link with Stokesay Castle by means of an attractive walkway
  along the river
• Redevelopment of the preferred site, part of which is “brown field”,
  will rejuvenate the land and enhance ecological value
• Potential links with academic institutions and ecological learning resource centres as a focus for rural/environmental activities

Some of the issues that will need to be addressed include:

• Providing good access
• Proximity to flood plain
• Ensuring public safety
• Maintaining building security
